While guests were not common at the base of Dothgar, guest quarters had been carved out of the rock just in case. One never knew when a retired general or royalty might wish to stop by. It was a long journey to the base and there was not a town on the outskirts that could be considered secure. Therefore any visiting dignitaries had to be housed within the base to insure their safety. It was within one of these quarters that Isabel would be housed and given time to recover.

The quarters were not spacious by royal standards, but compared to most of the personnel quarters around the base they were large. A wide bed had been carved out of the rock and a thick mattress stuffed with feathers was secured on the rock. Sewn quilts provided warmth on the bed, and a soft pillow was provided. On the floor a large bear skin served to warm the stone floor. There was a small fireplace with a chimney of sorts carved up to an opening in the rock. A modest wardrobe stood to one side and a mirror hung on the wall above a small writing desk with paper. An inkwell and quill pen sat beside the paper. A chamber pot could be found tucked beside the bed and a base worker would be notified to check it several times a day should it need to be emptied. A wooden door closed the room and wooden shutters could be opened outward at a window looking over the cove. Outside the window, a ledge and dragon roost could be found with an overhang to keep the rain off. On the ledge, under the overhang, clean but old straw sat, undisturbed, waiting for refreshing should a guest with a dragon be arriving.

The two nurses and doctor carefully carried the young woman into the quarters and laid the gurney type contraption gently on the bed. Helping her roll to one side, they carefully removed the gurney and set it aside. With the doctor's instruction and help, a willow bark tea was given to her to drink and they waited a few moments for the pain killing effects to begin working. Then with gentleness and efficiency, they replaced her bandages and carefully cleaned the wounds. Applying new poultices and bandages, the work was done quickly.

Helping her under the covers, the doctor poured a glass of water from the nearby pitcher and set the glass on the side table within reach of Isabel. "Breakfast is on its way" she assured. "Is there anything else you need?"

Once Isabel was laid down, not much caring about being carried around like this. Adjusting herself on the bed, sinking down into the mattress. She winced at her arm, and leg, among other small wounds that she didn’t find comfortable. After the process was done, they gave her a tea one that she wasn’t fond of and made a face at it, even if it burned her throat on the way down. Coughing slightly at the aftertaste in her mouth, she let them work when the half-elf started feeling like she was tired. The medicine started to kick in and she had little protest about them changing the bandages, they worked quickly, she could feel them cleaning them but it didn’t hurt anymore. She still pulled away when it felt weird to her. They continued working despite her growing annoyance of the bandages.

Lifting her head after looking away from her wounds, she shook her head quietly, turning her head away again. She could smell salty air, tilting her head at where it was coming from a wooden window. Isabel hadn’t seen the ocean since she was little, Tikana had taken her there once, and she loved it, the sand, the smell of the ocean. The half-elf never swam just walked along the beach, it was after the drowning accident. She was terrified of water, but was content to stay at the ocean’s edge exploring the tide pools. It was a long time ago, bringing her attention to the room, it was spacious and nice. Perhaps she would have less nightmares now?

Which led her to question where Ceasar was? Was she crazy to trust the dragon already? Isabel would probably never see him again after she left this place. What if she stayed? There were too many unanswered questions, and that was partially her fault for not trusting people around here to ask them.

Her hopes were diminishing quickly, in her given state. Gideon would probably still be searching for her, now he knew that a dragon was accompanying her. Ceasar was in trouble too, perhaps she shouldn’t go back to the forest, or at least so soon. Isabel dosed, in and out of consciousness, not used to the medicine they’d given her. Even if it was a pain killer, she knew she couldn’t possibly get out and walk around. So she was stuck here, in an endless amount of boredom.

Caesar was not happy about this, not happy at all. He knew better to protest further to the doctor, but he stood as they took Sabine away and his head swerved back and forth to keep a good view of her as they took her away. His tendrils twitching and gathering about his muzzle he huffed as they disappeared around the corner, turning in a circle and pawing up the straw as he lashed his tail in frustration. It did not occur to him that they would take her to guest quarters, he assumed only that they'd take her to either the infirmary or standard group quarters.

Unable to stand it any longer, he whipped around and flew out of the caverns, up the huge chimney like chute and then turning left out the main cavern that served as an entrance and exit to the dragon caverns for the winged creatures. Emerging into the sunlight, he blinked several times as the brightness attacked his eyes and sea air assaulted his nostrils. Stupid rules, stupid authority, stupid procedures. He huffed to himself and tucked his wings to do a dive bombing run on the ocean. As he dove closer and closer he thought for a micro second that he might just keep diving. Perhaps that'd be easier then living with all these stupid, stuck up creatures.

Yet as he dove grew nearer to the waves, Isabel's face flashed through his brain and he hovered suddenly in the air, his wings flailing as he adjusted to the winds so close to the water. He couldn't abandon her, he'd promised he'd protect her. Snorting he looked around for any sign of fish and seeing a one jump about a quarter mile out, he quickly changed course after it. While his sight often disappointed him up close, far away his eyes were as sharp as an eagle.

Approaching quickly yet with care he timed his dip just off and barely missed the fish as it dived deep into the water below. Annoyed with himself and his skill he shook his head before trying again. This time a smaller, but slower fish. Catching it finally, he flew back towards the base to find a craig where he might eat his dinner in peace.

Flying slowly back, he was about to turn towards the cliffs across from the base when he smelled a familiar scent. His tendrils twitching with excitement, he dove down and tracked the scent back to its source. Sliding into the small but adequte shelter with a tangled mass of legs and wings, he shook himself straight again and poked his head in the window, fish still dangling from his maw. "Did ja miss me?" he asked with a sloppy grin.
